CHILDREN OF LIR COLLECTION
"Out with you upon the wild waves, Children of the King!
Henceforth your cries shall be with the flocks of birds."
The Children of Lir Collection is inspired by a haunting ancient Irish legend. It tells the story of King Lir, who with his wife Aoibh had four children - Fionnuala, Fiacra, Conn and Aed. Unfortunately Aoibh died and Lear later married her sister Aoife. However Aoife was jealous of the children and their love for their father so she used her magic to turn them into swans. They were condemned to spend 300 years on Lake Deravarragh, 300 years on the Sea of Moyle and 300 years on Inis Gluaire. The one human thing they were left with was their beautiful singing voices and people would come from afar to hear them. To end the spell, a Christian Bell would have to be heard across the land. This happened after 900 years when the Bell of Saint Kemoch rang out, and the swans were turned back into humans. However they were now frail old people, so they asked Saint Kemoch to bless them and they died happily, buried together with the oldest Fionnuala in the middle, the youngest Aed resting against her, and Fiacra and Conn on either side.
The collection consists of rings, brooches, pendants and Earrings, available in 9K Gold and Sterling Silver.
